Novena to the Holy Ghost: Day 5 - The Gift of Knowledge
Light immortal! Light Divine!
Visit Thou these hearts of Thine,
And our inmost being fill!
Meditation: The Gift of Knowledge
The gift of Knowledge enables the soul to evaluate created things at their true worth--in their relation to God. Knowledge unmasks the pretense of creatures, reveals their emptiness, and points out their only true purpose as instruments in the service of God. It shows us the loving care of God even in adversity, and directs us to glorify Him in every circumstance of life. Guided by its light, we put first things first, and prize the friendship of God beyond all else. "Knowledge is a fountain of life to him that possesseth it."
Prayer:
Come, O Blessed Spirit of Knowledge, and grant that I may perceive the Will of the Father; show me the nothingness of earthly things, that I may realize their vanity and use them only for Thy glory and my own salvation, looking ever beyond them to Thee, and Thy eternal rewards. Amen.
(Our Father and Hail Mary ONCE. Glory be to the Father 7 TIMES. Act of Consecration, Prayer for the Seven Gifts)
ACT OF CONSECRATION TO THE HOLY SPIRIT
On my knees before the great multitude of heavenly witnesses, I offer myself, soul and body to You, Eternal Spirit of God. I adore the brightness of Your purity, the unerring keenness of Your justice, and the might of Your love. You are the Strength and Light of my soul. In You I live and move and am. I desire never to grieve You by unfaithfulness to grace and I pray with all my heart to be kept from the smallest sin against You. Mercifully guard my every thought and grant that I may always watch for Your light, and listen to Your voice, and follow Your gracious inspirations. I cling to You and give myself to You and ask You, by Your compassion to watch over me in my weakness. Holding the pierced Feet of Jesus and looking at His Five Wounds, and trusting in His Precious Blood and adoring His opened Side and stricken Heart, I implore You, Adorable Spirit, Helper of my infirmity, to keep me in Your grace that I may never sin against You. Give me grace, O Holy Spirit, Spirit of the Father and the Son to say to You always and everywhere, "Speak Lord for Your servant heareth." Amen.
PRAYER FOR THE SEVEN GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
O Lord Jesus Christ Who, before ascending into heaven did promise to send the Holy Spirit to finish Your work in the souls of Your Apostles and Disciples, deign to grant the same Holy Spirit to me that He may perfect in my soul, the work of Your grace and Your love. Grant me the Spirit of Wisdom that I may despise the perishable things of this world and aspire only after the things that are eternal, the Spirit of Understanding to enlighten my mind with the light of Your divine truth, the Spirit of Counsel that I may ever choose the surest way of pleasing God and gaining heaven, the Spirit of Fortitude that I may bear my cross with You and that I may overcome with courage all the obstacles that oppose my salvation, the Spirit of Knowledge that I may know God and know myself and grow perfect in the science of the Saints, the Spirit of Piety that I may find the service of God sweet and amiable, and the Spirit of Fear that I may be filled with a loving reverence towards God and may dread in any way to displease Him. Mark me, dear Lord, with the sign of Your true disciples and animate me in all things with Your Spirit. Amen

Novena to the Holy Ghost: Day 4 - The Gift of Fortitude
Thou in toil art comfort sweet,
Pleasant coolness in the heat,
solace in the midst of woe.
Meditation: The Gift of Fortitude
By the gift of Fortitude the soul is strengthened against natural fear, and supported to the end in the performance of duty. Fortitude imparts to the will an impulse and energy which move it to under take without hesitancy the most arduous tasks, to face dangers, to trample under foot human respect, and to endure without complaint the slow martyrdom of even lifelong tribulation. "He that shall persevere unto the end, he shall be saved."
Prayer
Come, O Blessed Spirit of Fortitude, uphold my soul in time of trouble and adversity, sustain my efforts after holiness, strengthen my weakness, give me courage against all the assaults of my enemies, that I may never be overcome and separated from Thee, my God and greatest Good. Amen.

Novena to the Holy Ghost: Day 3 - The Gift of Piety
Thou, of all consolers best,
Visiting the troubled breast,
Dost refreshing peace bestow.
Meditation: The Gift of Piety
The gift of Piety begets in our hearts a filial affection for God as our most loving Father. It inspires us to love and respect for His sake persons and things consecrated to Him, as well as those who are vested with His authority, His Blessed Mother and the Saints, the Church and its visible Head, our parents and superiors, our country and its rulers. He who is filled with the gift of Piety finds the practice of his religion, not a burdensome duty, but a delightful service. Where there is love, there is no labor.
Prayer
Come, O Blessed Spirit of Piety, possess my heart. Enkindle therein such a love for God, that I may find satisfaction only in His service, and for His sake lovingly submit to all legitimate authority. Amen.

Novena to the Holy Ghost: Day 2 - The Gift of Fear
Verse for the Second Day
Come. Father of the poor.
Come treasures which endure
Come, Light of all that live!
Meditation ~ The Gift of Fear
The gift of Fear fills us with a sovereign respect for God, and makes us dread nothing so much as to offend Him by sin. It is a fear that arises, not from the thought of hell, but from sentiments of reverence and filial submission to our heavenly Father. It is the fear that is the beginning of wisdom, detaching us from worldly pleasures that could in any way separate us from God. "They that fear the Lord will prepare their hearts, and in His sight will sanctify their souls."
Prayer
Come, O blessed Spirit of Holy Fear, penetrate my inmost heart, that I may set you, my Lord and God, before my face forever, help me to shun all things that can offend You, and make me worthy to appear before the pure eyes of Your Divine Majesty in heaven, where You live and reign in the unity of the ever Blessed Trinity, God world without end. Amen.

Does God need us to Worship Him?
I just saw a headline that asked this question. I didn't read the article because as I went to click the link, my mind flooded with a myriad of thoughts that I felt the need to write down.
God is a Good Father, a Loving and Patient Father for sure! He wants to give us all good things always. When we give a gift to someone, we like to see that it's appreciated, not thrown in the trash before we even turn around. So many times, through indifference, His children do just that because the world has them tightly in its' grips and the children are deaf and blind to the treasure that could be theirs.
Too many say "I LOVE GOD" ... "I LOVE JESUS"; but it's with the same feeling as when they say "I love ice-cream"! We all need to spend time in prayer, preferably in Adoration and beg for the gift of truly loving Him.
When we love another person on earth, we want to learn all we can about
them. We never tire of talking about them with others and spend as much time as possible with them. We want to please them and not offend them in any way, right? Why is it that we don't treat God the same way??
We are too reticent in our thoughts, words and deeds when it comes to a display of love for our God. I will tell you a secret ... lol ... if you REALLY Love God, you won't be ABLE to be reticent about loving Him. Your love will GUSH out, even at unexpected times. Loving with all your heart, opens you to the Holy Ghost and fills you with His Gifts. Your open heart also opens you to His leanings.

So many times, in following a 'feeling', I've been led to someone or a situation that needed God's Touch in a certain way. Sometimes, the things that come out of my mouth are surprising to me and I know it wasn't my own puny intellect. We just have to love and be OPEN and stay grounded in prayer and Scripture. I know this has happened to MANY MANY people!
When we love God, we keep asking how to love Him better, to love Him MORE and more perfectly. I'm constantly asking for God to love ME more so I can return to Him a Love worthy of Himself and so I can share it with all I know, on and off-line! Certainly God's Love has no limitations, but we have to live within our capacities here on earth.

God is Self-sufficient of course and needs nothing. BUT .. He permits us to share in His Divinity through the Sacraments and of course He has shared in our HUMANITY through His Life. FAITH.
Faith is not just 'believing'. Even the devil believes, and you know where *he* lives! Faith is an unwavering substance built on the knowledge of what Jesus has done and the promises of what He WILL DO.
There are all kinds of laws in the universe. Do THIS and THAT happens all down the line with different aspects of living here on this planet. Physics, Nature, Science, Relativity, Gestation, Transmutation and all the rest. But basically they all boil down to CAUSE AND EFFECT.
Faith is the Virtue in which we believe in God, all that He has said and revealed to us and all that Holy Mother Church proposes for our believe because God is TRUTH, Itself.
For this we freely commit ourselves to God and constantly seek to do His Will, striving never to offend Him again. We must TRUST with all our being, which is part of Faith; and I believe it opens the floodgates of mercy, love and grace in a significant manner inundating us further with conviction of His Love and Care.
So God doesn't NEED us to love Him, but He WANTS us to love Him because it permits us to receive all the good things He lovingly wants us to have.

And Now For Something a Little Different ...
Yanno what? (And I don't care who likes this and who doesn't, cuz it's undeniable.)
I don't care who said what or who showed this or that. Those that still have working brains see clearly:
1. Trump can pull together a crowd of thousands in a cornfield in Bumtuck, Wherever & Biden can't hire hundreds to show up in a major city. How the HELL was it possible Biden LEGITIMATELY won the presidency?
2. Trump got us out of bad trade deals, put America first, brought back jobs from overseas. America was respected again and the economy was good ... we didn't have to buy our oil from people who pray daily for our death. As soon as Biden sat in the chair, he thought it was better to undo all that and let us experience what it's like to wonder if we'll have food on our tables next week and if we'll be able to afford to drive our cars to work so he can gouge us in taxes while shoving experimental spike proteins down our throats under the threat of not even having jobs the week after if we refuse the jab.
3. Trump was rich to begin with. This made him invulnerable to special interest groups, lobbyists and certain elites who are used to bribing corrupt politicians to promote their agendas. (What can you dangle before someone who already has everything and whose only interest is making America great and helping the people?)
4. He was really making a dent in the very lucrative human trafficking INDUSTRY taking away the elites playthings and destroying their *new form of currency*. The border was secure and it was made well known that if you attempt to knock him over, he will topple you into the ground.
(This is one of the main reasons he's hated so much.)
Meanwhile, we have the elites now brainstorming ways to have pedophilia, incest and all other perversions rebranded as a *sexual orientation* rather than the crime that it is. Today the horror is not crime or sin, but decent folks POINTING OUT crime & sin.
This is just the tip of a very clear cut iceberg that's hopefully getting ready to thaw out very shortly causing a tsunami of TRUTH & JUSTICE to pour over anyone with eyes to see & ears to hear.
These are my opinions.
I believe they're still allowed as of this writing.
I will say right now, I do NOT debate opinions, so don't bother wasting you time with hate comments. All that I have said is in the public domain and I can't imagine there's any documentation to dispute it. As I previously mentioned, OPPOSING VIEWPOINTS WILL NOT BE ENTERTAINED OR REPLIED TO.
So, do you want to be able to feed your families, take vacations, enjoy a fruitful economy and drive where you want in the country without medical records on your person ... or do you want to keep things as they are now, knowing it's only going to get worse? What's more important to you ... Freedom, happiness, prosperity and truth .... Or being manipulated by people willing to sell out to the highest bidder regardless what it costs the country & the people so long as it lines their pockets well?!?
Which really IS more important to you .... TRUTH OR YOUR PRIDE?

The Christmas Birds
It was a particularly cold and blustery Christmas Eve this year ..... Carol bundled up the children for Midnight Mass, and tried one last time to encourage Jim to join them. Now, Jim was a kindly man; a good father a loving husband ... in fact, there was nothing anyone could say at all against this upstanding civic leader !
It wasn't that he didn't believe in God.. it was simply that he felt 'uncomfortable' with structured religious activities of any sort, hence he avoided them as much as possible.
At any rate, Carol and the children had left and Jim settled down in front of a nice roaring fire with his slippers, the newspaper and a cup of his favorite raspberry hot chocolate. This was HIS time to relax, with most of the hustle bustle of the season behind him now, he relished the thought to be alone and kick back!
He placed his "reading" glasses auspiciously at the end of his nose and began to peruse the newspaper. "THUMP"... "THUMP" he heard against the front of the house. "hmmmmm, must be some kids having one last snowball battle before Mass" he thought to himself with a grin, remembering his own youth!
Again he heard: "THUMP"..."THUMP".... "THUMP", but this time against the glass of the new bow window just installed this past fall! He figured he'd better stick his head out the door and have a chat with the kids before things got out of hand. When he turned on the front light and looked out the door there was noone in sight at all. Convinced that he needed MORE rest and relaxation than he thought, he returned to his paper, his fire and his (now) luke-warm raspberry hot chocolate.
No sooner did he sit down, then once again, the "THUMPING" started; but this time it was harder and more frequent. Determined to confront whoever was playing games with him and robbing him of his solitude, he bundled himself up, went out the back door and around the house to "catch 'em in the act"!!
As he made his way around the house in the blustering wind and snow storm, he marveled as he recalled how, in his youth, he was impervious to such trivialities!
He rounded the west corner of the house and could see plainly the front landing and the bow window that he was attempting to protect. His plan of attack worked! There were the villains right there in plain sight!! Much to his surprise however, it was not a snowball fight at all ... it was a group of cold, frantic birds.
The "THUMPING" he heard, was their feeble attempt to find some shelter from the biting storm that raged wildly. Jim's heart melted at this pitiful sight!! He ran to the barn, and put on the light, hoping that they would notice and take shelter in there for the night ..... but HOW to get them IN there? He ran in the house, grabbed a loaf of bread and made a trail of crumbs from the front door to the barn, but - to no avail. He turned off the front door light and paraded back and forth from there to the barn with a flashlight, hoping the birds would follow him, but his strange presence only served to frighten them and add to their misfortune.
Finally, in his frustration, and knowing that if he didn't do SOMETHING to save them, they would surely DIE ... he got a broom and attempted to SHOO them into the barn. Unfortunately, this caused more havoc than the other attempts, and left Jim standing there feeling completely helpless.
As he was mulling over his feeble attempts and trying to find a way to make the birds UNDERSTAND that he was trying to help them and bring them to safety, he realized that whatever he did only served to frighten them. He thought: "If I could only just become ONE OF THEM, then they wouldn't be afraid of me, and I could make them understand that I was only trying to ... trying to ..... "
At that very moment the Church bells rang, Jim realized that this was exactly what Jesus had done for humankind. He became ONE OF US so He could SHOW US THE WAY to salvation ("safety"). Jim fell to knees in adoration of that Little Babe in the Manger and thanked God for the Precious Gift of His SON on the first Christmas, so very long ago!!
(He also started going to Church with the family on a regular basis! ) ![]() May the New Year be especially kind to US ALL! |

Beg the Holy Spirit to engulf the minds and hearts of ALL mankind to be open to the Truth, Love, Mercy and Goodness of Christ our Lord, Savior and Triune God! When you pray ... do not forget your friends and loved ones; both here on earth and those that have stepped into eternity. May the Good Lord shower His most Choice Blessings on those that love Him and open the hearts and minds of those that are selectively blind and deaf. May He have mercy on us all! Amen. Keep the wicks trimmed and the oil lamps full! |
The song says: "A Child, A Child shivers in the cold, let us bring Him silver and gold ..."
Let us all, on this Christmas Eve and throughout our lives, not give Him what the WORLD considers valuable, but let us give Him what TRULY IS VALUABLE and that which He desires MOST ... our love for Him and for each other.
We have but to open our hearts to invite Him in ..
He waits always ready to enter! God bless us, yes ... EVERYONE! ;)
Merry Christmas and may the New Year be especially kind to us!

Christ the King
Christ the King Prayers
Scriptural References: Psalm 23; Matthew 25:31-46; 1 Corinthians 15:20-28
Pope Pius XI instituted The Feast of Christ the King in 1925 for the universal church in his encyclical Quas Primas. He connected the increasingly denial of Christ as king to the rise of secularism. At the time of Quas Primas, many Christians (including Catholics) began to doubt Christ's authority and existence, as well as the Church's power to continue Christ's authority. Pius XI, and the rest of the Christian world, witnessed the rise of non-Christian dictatorships in Europe, and saw Catholics being taken in by these earthly leaders. These dictators often attempted to assert authority over the Church. Just as the Feast of Corpus Christi was instituted when devotion to the Eucharist was at a low point, the Feast of Christ the King was instituted during a time when respect for Christ and the Church was waning, when the feast was needed most.
Pius hoped the institution of the feast would have various effects. They were:
1. That nations would see that the Church has the right to freedom, and immunity from the state (Quas Primas, 32).Today, the same distrust of authority exists, although the problem has gotten worse. Individualism has been embraced to humility and service. Jesus said:
2. That leaders and nations would see that they are bound to give respect to Christ (Quas Primas, 31).
3. That the faithful would gain strength and courage from the celebration of the feast, as we are reminded that Christ must reign in our hearts, minds, wills, and bodies (Quas Primas, 33).
such an extreme, that for many, the only authority is the individual self. The idea of Christ as ruler is rejected in such a strongly individualistic system. Also, many balk at the idea of kings and queens, believing them to be antiquated and possibly oppressive. Some even reject the titles of "lord" and "king" for Christ because they believe that such titles are borrowed from oppressive systems of government. However true these statements might be (some kings have been oppressive), these individuals miss the point: Christ's kingship is one of
You know that those who are recognized as rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones make their authority over them felt. But it shall not be so among you. Rather, whoever wishes to become great among you will be your servant; whoever wishes to be first among you will be the slave of all. For the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many (Mark 10:42-45, NAB).and
Pilate said to Jesus, "Are you the King of the Jews?"... Jesus answered, "My kingdom does not belong to this world. If my kingdom did belong to this world, my attendants would be fighting to keep me from being handed over to the Jews. But as it is, my kingdom is not here." So Pilate said to him, "Then you are a king?" Jesus answered, "You say I am a king. For this I was born and for this I came into the world,to testify to the truth (John 18:33b, 36-37).
